As I reach the end of this program, I feel both relief and excitement. The relief after the late nights and long hours, and excitement for the journey ahead. Although this chapter is closing, my growth as an educator is only just beginning.
When I started this program in my fourth year of teaching, I had hoped to gain the knowledge needed to become a resource teacher. Now, finishing in my sixth year, I realize that what I have learned extends far beyond a specific role. The perspectives and practices explored throughout this program have strengthened my teaching and will continue to guide my practice in the classroom.
Inclusion and special education have always been central to my practice. Working in three different schools over the last few years has shown me that no single approach fits every learner. We must continually adapt and evolve alongside our students. I know that I still have so much to learn, and I look forward to continuing the learning long after this program.
Reflecting on this program, I am grateful for the opportunities this program has provided. Growing up and working in Newfoundland has given me a different lens than many of my colleagues, and I am thankful for the insights, conversations, and shared experiences that has shaped my experience and learning in this program. I want to extend sincere thanks to my instructors and classmates for how they have shaped this program and my truly wonderful experience. To my partner, Connor, and my parents, I send many thanks as well for the unwavering support.
Thank you for taking the time to read my reflection and view my portfolio. I am proud of the work that I have put into this program. I know the learning that I carry forward will continue to shape my practice for years to come.
