This program served as both a new adventure and a new challenge for me.Ā It has pushed my thinking and evolved my practice for the better. A part of the process of creating a portfolio with artifacts that represent what I have learned throughout program includes synthesizing my learning and creating questions, The themes that have emerged that guide my thinking and learning and are as followed:
- Reimagining inclusion and questioning whether our inclusionary practices truly foster belonging and equitable participation for all learners.
- Human development and equity in which we understand howĀ developmental, cultural, and socioeconomic factors shape learning and how educators can bridge opportunity gaps.
- Connecting theory to practice and applying research, theory and reflection to create responsive, student centred approaches that support our diverse learners.
The questions that have helped guide my portfolio are:
- How can educators bridge the gap between theory and practice to create truly inclusive and equitable classrooms?
- In what ways can an understanding of human development and context inform our approaches to inclusion and assessment?
- How does reflective and adaptive practice allow teachers to reimagine inclusion as more than presence , but as belonging, participation, and growth?
The themes and questions that have helped guide my portfolio, reflect what I have learned and taken away from this program. I have continuously questioned our inclusionary practice and if we are truly creating a belonging for all learners, or are we unintentionally widening the gaps. As our classrooms evolve, it is essential to recognize the diversity of our students and use our learning to better adapt and inform our practices. Through reflection, I can apply these insights to my own teaching and continue to grown as an educator. These themes and questions will not only guide my portfolio and my artifacts, but my career as I move forward and continue to learn and grow as an educator.
